Ever since my early childhood, which like any other girl, included all the Disney princesses movies and fairytales,  there was one single story that marked me more than any other… Beauty and the Beast.

The boldness, and fearlessness of Belle, in addition to her undying love for books, knowledge and adventure made her my utmost favourite Disney character, and the one I could relate to the most.

I have watched the original Beauty and the Beast movie over 15 times throughout my 25 years, to the point were I have memorised the lyrics to almost every song, and the dialogue in almost every scene.  So.. I think you could imagine my childish excitement and joy when I found out that they were planning a remake of the movie.

Yesterday night, I was finally able to go watch the new Beauty and the Beast. I spent the entire morning jumping around like a little girl, trying to convince my husband and sisters that it was the best idea in the world to swap our ‘out for drinks’ evening with ‘out watching a Disney movie’. My oh my did I feel like the ceiling couldn’t hold me in when they agreed to my change of plans, and oh boy was my excitement well placed.

I am speechless when it comes to trying to explain what I felt watching the remake yesterday. It is such a very well directed movie, with an enormous attention to the tiniest detail, in order to be able to pay tribute to the original 1991 movie.

There was one incident during the movie though, that made me laugh so much, it brought me near tears.. my husband turned to my youngest sister during the scene when the Beast takes Belle to the library for the first time, and asked her: ‘does Belle’s reaction remind you of anyone?’, and my sister replied with such conviction ‘oh yes of course.. it’s Yara’ and they both just smiled. Yara is truly yours by the way.
It was just very touching to see how the closest people to me know how much I love books, and how I would react if I entered an old, and enormous library.

What is your favourite Disney movie, and what character do you relate to the most?

In the end, I would like to share with you the lyrics of my favourite song from the movie..

Enjoy 😊

Tale as old as time
True as it can be
Barely even friends
Then somebody bends

Just a little change
Small to say the least
Both a little scared
Neither one prepared

Beauty and the Beast

Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before and ever just as sure as the sun will rise

Tale as old as time
Tune as old as song
Bitter sweet and strange
Finding you can change
Learning you were wrong

Certain as the sun
Rising in the east
Tale as old as time
Song as old as rhyme

Beauty and the Beast

  1. Great post; haha it must be lovely to be compared to a hero from a favourite film. 🙂
There’s so many good Disney films, but for me it has to be their version of JM Barrie’s “Peter Pan” — because I’ve never grown up.
“Second star to the right, and straight on ’til morning…”

  2. Thank you 😊 it was very touching when they compared me to Belle.. it felt like a huge achievement😊

    Oh Peter Pan!
    I’ve learned this from him:
‘Never is an awfully long time’

You should never grow up😊😊 always young in spirit!

  3. Beauty and the beast is one of my favorite disney movies too. I can relate to the way Belle loves, deeply and passionately. She sacrificed her life for her father, without knowing if she would ever get her freedom back, and she loved the beast regardless of his looks . My favorite song in the movie is “evermore”.

  4. The love that we have for Disney movies will never grow old… loved this piece so much, you showed us that the child inside us will never die, which is something to be proud of!
